“So verily I call to witness the planets that recede Go straight, or hide; And the Night as it dissipates And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness― Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, With authority there, faithful of his trust. And O people! your companion is not one possessed; And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. Then whither go ye?
“Verily this is no less than a Message to all the Worlds: With profit to whoever among you wills to go straight. But ye shall not will except as Allah wills the Cherisher of the Worlds.”
These Words are the translation of the 81st Surah of the Holy Quran, At-Takwir (meaning “the Overthrowing”, “the
Folding-up”, “the Winding Round") from which this blog takes it's title. The Quran, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad over 1300 years ago, is a profoundly powerful book of spiritual knowledge, believed by Muslims to be the direct and unaltered revelation of the Word of God. The Quran serves as the foundation of all the teachings of Islam, one of the world's greatest religions.
I hope these most holy words bring some comfort to your soul. This is what my hope is for this entire blog: that, by the Grace of God, your reading of the meditations and writings posted on this site, gleaned from all the world's major religious traditions, will deepen your relationship with our Creator and through Him you may gain a deeper understanding of your own inner-divinity. May God guide you to truly know Him, His Messengers, and yourself.
Thank you so much for your support, I will be praying for all who visit this site.

Read with genuine interest all that was written here. The principles as described were very enlightening & encouraging. Certain aspects spoke to me as poetic truths. The concept of science & religion being twin pillars of reality embraces the duality of the universe in a way that makes sense & rings true. And this quote, "Humanity is likened unto ‘the flowers of one garden’ as both increase their beauty by allowing all colors and forms to grow side by side" is beautifully expressed. I was also moved to read "Men & women are as two wings of one bird". Balance. Throughout these principles the themes of duality & balance are guiding truths. As for the idea of a second language that is universal, I've always thought that would be ideal. Similar to the way Catholics had Latin & Jews have Hebrew, except this would be all-inclusive. I have to smile, though, imagining the red tape of the world decision-makers trying to hammer out what sort of linguistic model would be used. And I'm not sure there’s even enough time left of this old Earth to fully implement that great idea! I've really enjoyed your thoughtful introduction to this blog, Raymond. Wishing you best of luck w/ seeping into readers' consciousness. <3 ANB
ReplyDeleteVery interesting comments from you, Allene. You point out how most the Baha'i principles have the theme of balance, that's not something that I had thought about before. Recently I've been reading the works of the ancient Taoist philosopher Chuang-Tzu, which are actually quite funny and often whimsical. But being a Taoist, balance is of course a very important theme in his work. I was having trouble linking up some of his insights with the Bahai Writings. But now your thoughts, I'm seeing the idea of balance as being a central principle to both.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice hearing your responses.
It's always cool when an exchange of ideas helps both minds expand. :) Allene
DeleteJust read today's entry & made some interesting connections to current events & to familiar names that may have taken on spelling variations over the centuries. I'm impressed with the time you put in on this, Raymond!
